Day 47 – Mon 17 Oct – Today was taken up with the funeral service of Betty Simpson. I worked this morning on Revelation 21:1-8 which the family had chosen. We sang at the graveside which is one of the things I love. It’s so countercultural and yet captures both the grief and the hope of the Christian. We just about managed to get through ‘When peace like a river’ acapella. It was back to the church for the thanksgiving service where two of Ron and Betty’s friends gave tributes and I spoke on the new creation – Who’s new world is it? What will it be like? Who will be there? The church was packed and singing ‘And can it be’ will live long in the memory.
We had the deacons meeting, nothing remarkable, we’re still waiting on the architects/ contractors for the building project.
