Day 71 – Thu 10 Nov – A full but varied day. I got going early on Isaiah and Philemon before Claire and I went to the Bank. We’re hoping to extend our home and the mortgage people were surprisingly encouraging.
One of our young men is preaching a week on Sunday in the evening so I went through his sermon on Matthew 7 together, I’d not seen the parallel in the v25 and 27 – how the emphasis falls not on the house being built on sand as you’d expect but on the greatness of the fall, see how the verses end, it’s not how you’d expect.
v25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.
v27And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.
We’d had over a tonne of wood arrive yesterday and so Donald and I got working on moving it from the road to the back of the house, a tonne of coal arrived whilst we were doing it, so we’re set for winter. Moving wood and coal are the kind of thing ministry apprentices dream of I’m sure.
We had team meeting and Phoebe is doing better than yesterday but exhausted. In the evening I did two pastoral visits and worked late trying to finish Isaiah to no avail.
