When I was at Cornhill a few of us went out for breakfast with Phillip Jensen and were pretty desperate to impress him. When the food arrived one of my friends piously asked Phillip – “Would you bless the food?” To which Phillip responded “Say it yourself, you Pharisee“
Of course it’s not wrong to give thanks in a restaurant but we don’t pray to be seen by others.
